For more than 10 years, I have been a Lecturer, Clinic Supervisor and Senior Lecturer of Nutritional Medicine at various universities and colleges across Australia.

Over the course of a decade working as a lecturer at a number of educational institutions around the country, I have noticed a lot of things change. Students are no longer taught how to think, instead they are being told what to think. There is an emphasis on wrote learning and regurgitating information from textbooks, rather than critically appraising the validity of information written on the pages.

Not only this, but the quality of the subject material and the subject material itself has changed. Natural medicine courses were once focused on developing a deep understanding about holistic physical examination, philosophy, identifying and treating the cause, patient education, treating the person as a whole living being, and utilsing the healing power of nature. Regrettably, that is no longer the case. Natural medicine degrees are a far cry from their glory days.

It's my mission to teach you how to think, not what to think. To ask the deeper questions. To harness your inquisitive. To understand what the science really says. To educate the world about natural healing and to keep real natural medicine alive.

Despite all of the advances modern medicine has to offer, humanity has never been fatter, sicker and unhappier than it is now.

How can this be when there is so much time, energy and funding being poured into ‘ground-breaking’ medical research? Maybe it’s because the currently held mainstream perspectives on health and disease are missing the mark? The modern Western lifestyle is inherently conducive to disease, so how can the population ever be healthy?

Mother nature doesn't do disease,  humans do.

The currently accepted viewpoint is that disease is considered a normal part of life and the notion that the body has an innate capacity to heal itself, is dismissed. The fact of the matter is, mother nature doesn't do disease, humans do. The level of sickness within a society is a barometer of how disconnected it has become from nature.

We are led to believe that there are thousands of different diseases, with hundreds of different causes. Symptoms are frequently blamed as the problem, which ultimately leads to the prescription of pills and potions (natural or pharmaceutical) with the sole focus of symptom suppression.

LEARN MORE
What if disease is not a normal part of life and the body does possess an innate capacity to heal itself?

What if there is only one disease, caused by just a handful of factors? What if symptoms are not the cause of the problem, but the body’s response to the problem? What if we have confused the effects of disease as the cause?

At Humanley we see health and the human body through a different lens. We believe the body is perfect and possesses a remarkable capacity to heal itself. When we give the body what it needs, remove what it doesn't need and then get out of the way, we allow the body to show us what it's truly capable of.

What's Covered in Each Webinar?

Webinar 1: There is Only One Disease (Saturday 1st July 2023, 10 AM AEST)

What is disease, how is it caused and what can be done about it? We are told that disease is a bad thing, that symptoms are the problem and must be suppressed. What if disease wasn’t the problem, but the answer to the problem? We are also told that there are thousands of different diseases with thousands of different causes. What if there was only one disease and just a handful of causes? It’s time for a paradigm shift about how disease is perceived.

Webinar 2: The Diet to End All Diets (Wednesday 23rd August 2023, 6 PM AEST)

Never before in human history have human beings been so confused about what to put in their mouths. You could say nutrition has become ‘unnecessarily overcomplicated’. The sheer number of diets out there is testament to this fact. Keto diet, carnivore, vegetarian, vegan, juice fasting, raw food and Mediterranean, the list goes on. It’s no wonder people are so confused about what to eat. Is there such a thing as a ‘proper’ or ‘correct’ diet? After more than a decade working in the field of nutrition, I have come to the conclusion that no diet ‘works’. There is only one true way of nourishing the human body, but there’s a catch….It makes the field of nutrition redundant.

Webinar 3: Lifting the Veil on Vitamins (Saturday 14th October 2023, 10 AM AEST)

Scurvy, pellagra and beriberi are all considered to be nutritional diseases caused by a vitamin deficiency, but what if they weren’t deficiency diseases at all? What if they were toxicity diseases? Could it be that every single thing we thought we knew about vitamins was wrong? What even is a vitamin? How were they discovered and were they ever demonstrated to cause disease when consumed in inadequate amounts? How are vitamin supplements made and do they actually work the way we think they do? The answers to these questions might surprise you.

Webinar 4: Unlocking the Secrets of Detoxification (Wednesday 6th December 2023, 6 PM AEST)

The body isn’t a rubbish dump, yet most people treat it like one whether they know it or not. Toxin exposure is one of the most harmful factors impacting human health in modern society. Toxicity could be one of the major causes of chronic disease from reproductive issues to gastro-intestinal problems, yet it is frequently overlooked. Every day we are exposed to thousands of harmful chemicals hidden in our food, water, air, motor vehicles, workplaces and homes. Thankfully our body possesses a remarkable capacity to detoxify many of these toxic chemicals, but sometimes it needs a helping hand. In this presentation, you will learn about the health impacts of environmental toxins, how to minimize your exposure and how to maximise the body’s detoxification processes, with simple yet effective interventions.

Webinar 5: Mind Matters: Placebo vs Nocebo (Saturday 27th January 2024, 10 AM AEST)

The power of belief can be our best friend or it can be our worst enemy. Belief can heal the body but it can also cause disease; we know this through the extensive body of research on the placebo and nocebo effects. The thoughts we think and the emotions we allow ourselves to feel have a great influence over our physical body. Belief is the most important factor affecting health, bar none. Discover why harnessing its power is more important than any pill, potion, super food or exercise program.

Webinar 6: Parasites: Friend or Foe? (Wednesday 20th March 2024, 6 PM AEST)

Ridding the body of parasites is considered a fundamental strategy in overcoming a range of chronic diseases, but are they really the enemy? Parasites are said to be the cause of disease, yet there is little to no scientific evidence supporting this assertion. Could parasites be our friend, rather than our foe? Have we attributed blame to an innocent micro-organism trying to clean up a man-made mess? If parasites are not the enemy, this raises several questions. What causes a parasite ‘infection’? Why do people feel sick when they have a parasite and feel so much better after a parasite cleanse? How might anti-parasitic herbal medicines actually work? Should parasites be embraced, rather than demonised? After this presentation, you will never think about parasites the same way again.

Webinar 7: Is Cancer the Cure? (Saturday 18th May 2024, 10 AM AEST)

Despite all of the research, man-power, money and time invested into understanding what causes cancer and how to reverse it, we are no closer to finding an answer than we were 50 years ago. Recent estimates suggest that one in two people with be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, but it hasn’t always been this way. In the not-too distant past, cancer was considered a rare disease, so why has it become so prevalent? We are taught that cancer is something to be feared, that the cancer itself is the problem and it must be destroyed or removed at all costs. This approach makes sense if cancer is truly the problem, but what if cancer is the answer to the problem? Have we confused ourselves about what cancers role is? Could it be a mitigation response by the body against a far more significant causal factor?

Webinar 1: Autoimmunity

Does the body really attack itself, or is our current understanding maligned? Could it be the body is trying to do something right, rather than wrong? Have we unfairly blamed the immune system as the cause of the problem, when it might actually be the effect of a much deeper issue? What can be done about managing auto-immunity? The entire concept of auto-immunity is well overdue for re-consideration.

Webinar 2: Does Mould Cause Disease?

When mould is present in a home, it is a good visual indicator that there is water damage or excessive dampness. Most people blame mould as the cause of disease, yet this has never been proven scientifically. There is no doubt people living and working in mould affected building can become unwell, but is the mould really to blame?

Webinar 3: The Microbiome

The human microbiome is one of the most widely researched, yet misunderstood parts of the human body. The current understanding is that there are “good bacteria” which are conducive to good health and “bad bacteria” which cause dysbiosis and disease. But what if there weren’t “good” or “bad” bacteria? What if everything we thought we thought we knew about the microbiome was completely misguided?

Webinar 4: The Terrain

Imagine you have a pet fish and it gets sick. What are you going to do? Change the water, or medicate the fish? What if you had a rose garden and they get black spot? What are you going to do? Spray the roses with fungicide, or rectify the nutrient deficiencies in the soil? In both of these hypothetical scenarios, we didn’t treat the fish, or the rose directly. Instead, we optimized the environment, the terrain. Healthy water, healthy fish. Healthy soil, healthy rose. It’s the same with the human body. When our terrain is healthy, so are we. When the terrain is imbalanced, then things really start to go haywire.

Webinar 5: Interpreting Iron Studies

Interpreting iron studies is an essential skill in clinical practice, however many practitioners are not confident in accurately assessing and interpreting the results. Have you ever had clients complaining about symptoms associated with iron deficiency, yet they have been told their iron levels are “fine”? Do you get confused about the differences between transferrin, transferrin saturation and total iron binding capacity? Are you able to differentiate between nutritional iron deficiency and functional iron deficiency? Maybe you are struggling to increase your patients iron levels and you’re not sure what to do next? Then this webinar is for you.

Webinar 6: Interpreting Thyroid Panels

Interpreting the thyroid panel is an essential skill in clinical practice, however many practitioners are not confident in accurately assessing and interpreting the results. Have you ever had clients complaining about symptoms associated with thyroid dysfunction, yet they have been told their thyroid hormone levels are “fine”? Are you about how to accurately interpret and understand the differences between TSH, T3, T4, rT3, TPO, TSHRAbs? Do you have a client with abnormal thyroid markers and you are unsure about what to do next? Let us help you make some sense about how to interpret the thyroid panel.

Webinar 7: Interpreting Lipid Profiles

Poor old cholesterol, it’s been unfairly demonized for decades. It’s been blamed for causing diseases like atherosclerosis, heart attacks, stroke, transient ischaemic attacks and peripheral arterial disease. In reality, cholesterol is not the cause of the problem, but rather a response by our body to protect us against the real underlying causes of the problem. The currently available treatments are focused around reducing cholesterol levels. These treatments are reactive, they don’t address the cause of the problem and actually hinder our body’s ability to heal itself.
